ocp - "it is all a question of frequency"

"operador de cabine polivalente" (aka ocp) is the name of an ongoing sound project.
Translated, the expression means "polyvalent cabin operator"; a sophisticated phrase for jack-of-all-trades!
This is my tribute to the people we often forget and who make it all possible: the cameramen/women, the guys behind mixing desks, roadies, etc., just to name a few.
Tributes made, the purpose of this project is to develop uncommon sound textures/patterns/compositions taking different approaches, applying diverse techniques.
The end results are then to be divulged to an audience, either live or through this website.
Since this is a work in progress with no limitations, you should expect experimental material instead of beautifully crafted pop stuff, and a random update procedure.
Sobre João Ricardo, o operador de cabine polivalente:
João Ricardo was born in Porto, Portugal, in 1973.
His musical path started at the age of 6 with piano studies.
Years later he dedicated himself to the electric bass and guitar, as well as to the exploration of tools such as magnetic tape and software trackers.
The passage through several rock/metal bands (among which Gangrena) and some incursions in the experimental music field led to the present ocp (operador de cabine polivalente) project.
In the advent of the new millenium, he dropped out of Law School and headed to London to study at Live Audio Engineering.
Back home, he created his own PA company and worked in a Casino for three years where he's had the opportunity to assist
Diana Ross, Bobby McFerrin, Chaka Khan, Wilson Pickett, among others.
Presently, he dedicates himself to performing live and to composition/production/experimentation for multimedia; forms Pygar with Hugo Olim and participates in two other musical projects: Boiar and F.R.I.C.S..
Throughout his career he's played alongside names like Mikael Stavostrand, ALOG, Tim Hecker, Kangding Ray, Fennesz, etc.
